This unforgettable journey starts with a thrilling mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to Everest. The trail winds through scenic Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries, and forests of pine, juniper, and rhododendron—especially stunning during the spring bloom.

You’ll trek to the pristine Gokyo Valley, home to turquoise glacial lakes and the famous viewpoint Gokyo Ri (5,360m), offering panoramic views of the Himalayas including Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Lhotse. A side trip to Nagjumpa Glacier and the Fifth Lake gives you an incredible perspective of Everest’s north face.

The adventure continues over the icy Cho La Pass (5,420m)—a thrilling but challenging crossing—leading to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar (5,550m), where you’ll witness jaw-dropping sunrise views of Everest, Khumbu Icefall, and surrounding peaks.

Gokyo and Chola Pass Trek – 16-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Lukla & Trek to Phakding (2,640m)
A short, scenic 30-minute flight from Kathmandu lands you in Lukla (2,800m), the gateway to Everest. Begin your trek with a gentle descent through Sherpa villages and forested trails to Phakding.
Walking: 2–3 hrs | Overnight: Tea House

Day 2: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,430m)
Follow the Dudh Koshi River, cross suspension bridges, and climb through pine forests to reach the bustling Sherpa hub of Namche.
Walking: 5–6 hrs | Overnight: Tea House

Day 3: Acclimatization Day in Namche (3,880m)
Explore Khumjung village and visit the famous Everest View Hotel for your first glimpse of Everest. A light hike helps with altitude adjustment.

Day 4: Trek to Tengboche (3,867m)
Enjoy stunning mountain views as you head to Tengboche, home to the region’s most important monastery, with Ama Dablam towering above.

Walk through rhododendron forests and cross Imja Khola to reach the open valley of Dingboche, surrounded by Himalayan giants.

Day 6: Acclimatization Day – Hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,615m)
A rewarding side hike offers stunning views of Makalu, Island Peak, and the Khumbu Glacier. Return to Dingboche to rest.

Day 7: Trek to Lobuche (4,930m)
Pass through windswept landscapes and memorials for fallen climbers. The terrain becomes more rugged as you approach Lobuche.

Day 8: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,360m) via Gorakshep (5,140m)

Day 13: Trek to Dole (4,200m)
Descend through alpine pastures and yak herders’ huts as you follow the trail down the Gokyo Valley.

Rejoin the main Everest trail, retracing your steps to the heart of the Khumbu—Namche.
