Tenzing Sherpa
Born in 1982 in the Loding village of Solukhumbu, also known as the district of Mount Everest.
In the field of tourism, my maternal uncle was a mountaineer. I got involved in this field because of the association of my uncles; otherwise, my father was active in the field of education. My father was the first headmaster of Sri Pike Secondary School, located in the village of Loding. I also started my first education there. Then, gradually, when I came to Kathmandu to study, I started working with my uncle sometimes. At that time, I worked as an assistant guide for Japanese tourists and brought them to the mountains.
Now, I am the Managing Director of Pure Sherpa Adventure Pvt Ltd. Some of the money I earned from the tourism sector and my foreign friends sometimes do something for the poor and needy students. With the help of friends who support us, we are also giving scholarships to some people in the village. I really want to do that.
I am also working for the upliftment of the Sherpa community as the central secretary of the Nepal Sherpa Association, an umbrella organization of the Sherpa communities in Nepal. I have visited all the places in Nepal and successfully climbed some mountains as well. Now, I am thinking of climbing the mountains of seven continents, including Kilimanjaro.
I have visited Europe, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia. With almost 25 years of experience working in this field, I strive to bring pride and development to the Sherpa community and beyond.
